Bead Head Golden Stonefly (Dubbin Body)
This Stone Fly Golden Stone pattern imitates Golden Stone flies. Golden Stone flies are very similar to Salmon flies but are slightly smaller. A majority of their life is spent submerged and they prefer faster waters. It spends up to three years submerged before migrating towards the shore to emerge. Fishing this as a true nymph pattern can be effective.
During this migration they are knocked from their and are easy targets for trout. Fishing this fly across and toward the bank and letting them drift behind lies such as rocks, tree trucks or any object protruding from the surface, will produce. The best time to fish this pattern is dusk and dawn.
